Why do we make things so complicated? Sometimes simple solutions are the best and in this case, cheap and environmentally friendly. Check the end of the post for other uses for white vinegar.

June 17: Vil lage Green Nursery, joint event with Seattle Urban Farm Company (who also have a great book out!). This free book signing event starts at 1 p.m. Heirloom cocktails, featuring Bainbridge Organic Spirits will be served!

June 19: 2 p.m. garden demo and book signing at City Farm, then, at 6 p.m., head to Besaw’s for heirloom cocktails and a book signing party!

San Francisco
June 21: Local tapas and book signing party at 18 Reasons.

Boulder
June 25: Farm-to-table fare and heirloom cocktail book signing party at Black Cat Farm.

Austin
June 26: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Springdale Urban Farm.

Join us for an heirloom cocktail, tomato tastings, and great local fare from Pâté Letelier and other HOPE Farmers Market food artisans, served up by SOURCE Catering.

$15 includes a signed copy, an heirloom cocktail, and food crafted right from the farm!

More details will be posted as I get them. Also, starting this Saturday I will probably will not be updating textile nerd for the two weeks I’ll be gone. I know, it will be hard on me too. But don’t worry, you can fill that dashboard void by watching me be an unmitigated disaster across the country on my own personal tour blog.

Oh yeah, and if you wanna hang out and geek out about textiles and weaving (I will not be the only weaver in this tour group, btw) or whatever, message me or just show up at one of our events! I’m made to understand that most of them will provide cocktails, so I should be less of an introvert than usual. Hopefully.

The former home of etiquette expert Emily Post in Edgartown, Massachusetts, on Martha’s Vineyard Island.

This is how my grandmother’s house looked—profuse in heirloom roses, and other bulb plants along with her flowers where hummingbirds and bees congregated. There wasn’t an inch of soil around her house that wasn’t dedicated to beauty. Roses climbed the wash house, and shaded the walk way around the house. It was truly a magical, romantic place to spend my childhood summers and I wish I had appreciated it then as much as I miss it now.
